Defra annouced on Tuesday 17 July that the Land of the Three Rivers Local Nature Partnership is one of 41 to be formally recognised by Government.
Richard Benyon, Parliamentary Undersecretary for the Natural Environment, said “The vision, energy and commitment displayed in these applications was wonderful. Really diverse partners, many coming together for the first time, to work across geographic boundaries and administrative borders, and finding innovative ways of pooling and sharing limited local resources. And all this driven by the ambition to not only safeguard nature, but to recognise its importance to economic growth and the wellbeing of communities.
Following the development work undertaken at the beginning of this year, the LNP Development Group will now be securing a Chair for the partnership and formally establishing the LNP Board and Secretariat over the next few months. Further information on this process will be provided once available.
Although we are delighted to be formally recognised this is just the beginning of the process in creating this new partnership and there is still lots of be done in terms of shaping the work of the LNP and what it will deliver. We hope that everyone who has been involved in this process so far will continue to work to ensure that the partnership succesfully achieves delivery of our vision for the natural environment.
